About Jeff Wang

Aloha and thank you for taking the time to allow me to share and introduce myself. I’ll begin with my parents, whom were born and raised in Taiwan but met in New York City. We moved to Marlboro, New Jersey after living in Staten Island, New York for the first 8 years of my life.

I graduated from Rutgers University - New Brunswick as a double major in Accounting and Psychology. After graduation I was employed at a Big 4 accounting firm until the Great Recession of 2007-2009.

Signs pointing to Hawaiʻi kept on popping up and a couple months after being laid off, I arrived at HNL - the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in July of 2009. I knew right away I was in love with the islands. Breathing the sweet air, the energy, the magical feeling. I loved it then and still do now!

Originally a trip of two weeks, I couldn’t get myself to leave and kept on extending my stay. Having to repeatedly look for housing, it made sense to obtain my real estate license to both educate myself on the housing market as well as being a potential career opportunity. I got licensed at the end of 2009 and proceeded to sign on with one the largest firms on the island in 2010. After getting over the learning curve, I was doing well.

To be completely honest, I let success get to my head and let my spending get out of control. I eventually came crashing down, hitting rock bottom hard. It was a rough time for sure but looking back, I am grateful for the experience and there are many positive behaviors and lessons learned that are still ingrained in me to this day.

Intent to stop my financial bleeding, steady employment income was the best way to get back on my feet. After applying and interviewing for multiple positions, I had the opportunity to pursue a position as a flight attendant. My girlfriend at the time was a flight attendant and I saw the unconventional schedule as a way to maintain my entrepreneurial venture in real estate while also gaining employment. I was fortunate to start with an international airline in 2013. I was afforded to opportunity to stay in the islands by flying in-and-out of the island. A fortuitous, grateful and unexpected development in my life.

In 2015, I obtained my real estate broker license and started up my own brokerage. The firm was rebranded in 2021 to Jeff Wang O‘ahu Real Estate LLC. I decided that the best business model for my firm was to be as authentically me as I can be. For more on my philosophy and approach for the firm, please click here.

While real estate is an important part of my life, I don’t want it to consume all of my life. I value being a balanced and well-rounded individual with a chief aim of understanding myself. Self-mastery is my main lifelong journey. I wish to know and be at peace with myself.

I aim to accomplish this by first getting better at staying connected to my body. Quieting my mind can be a challenge and physical motion helps calm my busy thoughts. I believe that movement is a great way to connect my body, mind and spirit. Staying consistent with my physical practice helps me to get out of my own head in the short-term and long-term.

With exercise, I aim to be a jack of a handful of skills but a master of none. I’m at peace with not being the best as my focus is on mastering myself. I’m a big fan of sport and competition who respectfully admires and learns from those competing at high levels. With that being said, my immediate, biggest, strongest and most formidable competition is myself. I simply aim to give my best effort each session, pushing myself out of my comfort zone at my own pace.

Exercise and nutrition go hand-in-hand for balancing the body. As a result, I’ve taken an interest in cooking and have even put together a couple recipes!

Finding exercises and activities that best fit me so that I can consistently practice and enjoy them has been an ongoing process. This journey, along with my girlfriend at the time, led me to obtain my personal trainer certification in 2021 and I started offering personal training services in 2023.

As part of my peace of mind practice, the sun and sea play an important role. The ocean and world-class climate is my favorite luxury of Hawaiʻi to take advantage of! The refreshing, soothing, powerful feeling via sun and sea is simply magical. I’m grinning from ear to ear just thinking about it! More of a floater than a surfer or swimmer, however I have recently taken an interest in free diving.

I hope these words thus far have given a glimpse of my spirit. I believe our sprits/souls are what makes each of us unique and they guide us towards people, places, hobbies, ideas, interests, etc. that form our own unique characters and personalities. It’s a challenge to stay true to ourselves as there are numerous outside influences trying to sway us in all different directions. While most of these intentions are good-hearted at their core, I believe the best answers are found within ourselves.

This perspective of human uniqueness led to an interest in officiating weddings.

The milestone of two human beings coming together in our ever-complex society and connecting deeply enough to embark in marriage is a certainly something to be celebrated.

Uniqueness begets customization and I started offering personalized wedding officiant services to couples marrying on O‘ahu in 2023.

It’s a great way to surround to surround myself with more love and intimacy in my life. I believe this good energy will translate into all other areas of my life and am fortunate to play a role in such a memorable milestone.

I’ll wrap it up here for now. Thanks for reading and I look forward to connecting with and learning more about you! Feel free to reach out anytime. I’m on social media as well.

Aloha!
